The latest luxury yacht created by Lexus is nothing short of amazing
Crafting sensational cars is built into the very fibres of the Lexus brand DNA, but its latest show-stopper, the LY 650 luxury yacht, is a display of the brand’s continued exploration into non-automotive ventures.
The first luxury yacht by the Japanese car company will go into production in 2019, following on from the Lexus Sport Yacht Concept, the stunning LY 650 is a contemporary expression of Lexus ‘L-finesse’ design but made for the water.
Toyota’s Marine Division is joining forces with boating construction expert Marquis-Larson to bring the second chapter of Lexus yacht design to fruition. Together, the dynamic duo will continue to experiment with artisanal craftsmanship, modern technology and inspired design – in fact, many of the masterful boat builders have been with the Marquis-Larson company for 30 years, ensuring the level of quality and authenticity that Lexus upholds so well.
The LY 650 takes on some of the most attractive features of the 42-foot Sports Yacht Concept, including 65-foot overall length and a 19-foot beam form. However, the newest addition has its own pronounced style with a strong, distinguished bow, curved deck accents and accentuated aft hips. It’s one of the most elegant boats set to grace the seas, with a perfectly distinct roofline shape that acts as a simple yet impactful ode to Lexus cars.
Lexus International president Yoshihiro Sawa said the company is driven to explore "new ways to deliver innovative and amazing experiences for our guests", and his words couldn’t ring truer. Lexus has been incredibly experimental as of late, breaking boundaries and unveiling the company’s passion for craft with a strong tribute to Japanese design, particularly seen in the LS 500h, the latest addition to the LS flagship line-up.
Making the most of every touch point, the maritime addition is a representation of Lexus’ undying passion for innovation, experience and luxury. The well-established Japanese marque was first founded in 1989, yet fast-forward almost 30 years and the brand continues to successfully explore new frontiers beyond the automotive industry.
What will Lexus do next? No one can be sure, but according to the Toyota-owned company, it will be breaking in to the culinary, film and design realms as well – whatever that looks like, in true Lexus fashion, it’s sure to be exceptionally attractive.
