Princess Yachts hosts exclusive sojourn at tropical island

Family, friends and the finer things – that’s what boating enthusiasts can expect from the highly anticipated Princess Yachts Australia Rendezvous 2021.

Returning to Hayman Island for a second time, the exclusive affair is welcoming families to celebrate the exceptionally crafted vessels in true sophistication.

Hosted in the heart of the Whitsundays, the tropics will welcome 11 breathtaking Princess Yachts – an increase of 57 per cent from the previous year.

From the smallest 15-metre Princess Yacht right through to the largest 27-metre Princess Yacht, boat owners and their guests can revel in the magic of yachting no matter the size.

While the stars of the four-day event are unarguably the British Princesses, it is also a getaway for families and children who have been invited to the heavenly sojourn.

Of the 90 guests attending the 2021 iteration (a record high number for the event), 17 are children – and they’ll be more than entertained. Pizza making, beach walks, fish feeding, cricket and beach activities will make for wonderous memories while adults can relax with like-minded guests during long lunches and days spent cruising in crystal-clear waters.

"Nearly all of the guests from 2020 are coming again this year," says Greg Haines, Princess Yachts Australia Dealer Principal. "We found many of them kept in touch afterwards."

Arranged for the September school holidays, very few luxury boating getaways are inclusive of the whole family, making the Princess Yachts owner event a refreshing change for little eyes that are often glued to tech devices.

"We’re about family, so we want our clients to come and enjoy the whole experience," Haines says. "Boating is a family activity – after always using iPads and computers, we want to get children excited about things like fishing."

Making their way north through the Great Barrier Reef, the Princess yachts will cruise up to Hayman Island, stopping at Lady Musgrave Island along the way.

Following the parade of boats arriving into tropical Queensland, Princess Yacht owners and their guests will be treated to a cocktail party that evening. The next day, a long lunch will be enjoyed at Whitehaven Beach, before whisking people together with similar interests for boating activities. The following day will see children thrive at the kids’ club while adults rejuvenate with a ‘lay day’ at Hayman Estate. And the holiday wouldn’t be complete without a luxurious farewell lunch on the final day.

Expert tips from seasoned crew will also be on show, with particular focus on Lady Musgrave Island.

"It can be a bit daunting for some people, so we can show them how to cross the bar and get into some of those tight anchorages like Lady Musgrave," Haines adds.

Attracting a number of former CEOs and business leaders, it is just a small snippet of the 30,000 Princess Yacht owners globally who have immersed themselves in marine activities throughout the brand’s 55-year history, enabling yacht aficionados to share their adoration for the company while also networking for future corporate opportunities.

It’s not all about yachts, however. Whether guests opt to stay on their Princess Yachts or spend the nights at Mulpha’s InterContinental Hayman Island Resort, they will while away their days enjoying flutes of Veuve Clicquot, sampling gin from Mulpha’s new distillery and devouring fresh local seafood and gourmet meals.

Princess Yacht owners and their guests will also be given the opportunity to explore other vessels – perhaps tempting them to make that upgrade they didn’t know they wanted – as well as ogling the sleek Bentley Continental GT.

A true celebration of what a boating lifestyle can offer, Princess Yachts (alongside Hayman Estates, Volvo Penta, and Seakeeper) will provide a much-needed slice of tranquility after the testing times of the pandemic.
