Bremont unveils timepieces for jet pilots and mountain explorers

Three months into 2020 and British luxury watchmaker Bremont has unveiled a trio of striking new timepieces.

Inspired by an era of aviation, the boutique watch company debuted the ALT1-C Griffon, a tribute to the Rolls-Royce Spitfire engine known as Griffon, alongside the ALT1-P2 JET, a partnership project with Gravity Industries that requires the watch to go through rigorous testing procedures involving a 1,000hp Gravity Jet Suit.

At the other end of the spectrum is the Supermarine 500 Project Possible, Bremont’s exploration and mountaineering watch created to celebrate ambassador Nirmal ‘Nims’ Purja’s record-breaking mountaineering expedition. Nims summited all 14 of the world’s 8,000m peaks in six months – a record that took its previous holder eight years to accomplish. During those expeditions, Nims wore a Bremont S300 – a simplified version of the S500 for all 14 summits.

Bremont ALT1-C Griffon

The ALT1-C Griffon takes inspiration from Britain’s most revered warplane known as the Spitfire. Rolls-Royce engines powered these planes during their time of duty so it’s only fitting that Bremont paid homage to this marriage with a highly legible timepiece reflecting the vintage aesthetic of the dogfighting era.

Bremont was able to take the classic lines of this watch and merge it with proprietary manufacturing techniques such as their Trip-Tick case, which allows for optimum strength and weight via a three-part construction.

Bremont ALT1-P2 JET

Taking the aviation theme to modern times is the stealthy ALT1-P2 JET. The watch is derived from the popular ALT1-P model and sees the use of black diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating on the case for the first time in the model’s line-up. The result is a more adventurous design that showcases a slick aesthetic via the deep black dial contrasted against tan hands and indexes.

On the technical front, Bremont partnered with British inventor and Founder of Gravity Industries Richard Browning to ensure the watch’s reliability. Bremont put it through its paces via a 1,000hp Gravity Jet Suit to ensure that the timepiece could withstand the daily rigours of both civilians and pilots.

Bremont Supermarine 500 Project Possible

Beauty and exploration can be a fine combination and the latest tribute timepiece from Bremont proves it. The Supermarine 500 Project Possible features a 43mm case crafted from aircraft-grade titanium that is paired with a bronze bezel flanked by a ceramic blue insert.

On the dial, there’s a Project Possible motif etched in to remind wearers of the robust capabilities of this limited edition tool watch. Water resistance is rated at 500m and there’s a GMT function to help determine the time anywhere in the world. The Trip-Tick case is also DLC-coated for scratch-resistance and durability.
