Baume & Mercier Hampton Big Date Dual Time is a modern classic with edges
The silhouette may look familiar to other iconic luxury timepieces bearing the same rectangular case, but the latest Baume & Mercier Hampton Big Date Dual Time is far from a cut and paste offering. Unveiled online at this year’s Watches & Wonders, the Hampton Big Date Dual Time showcases impeccable design alongside faithful Art Deco aesthetics for a timepiece that evokes true modern classicism.
The beauty of the dress watch lies in the polished steel case, which features finely chamfered lugs to give a much sleeker and slimmer appearance on the wrist. The attractive dial meanwhile is given an opaline silver grained finish to provide a high level of legibility against the darker ruthenium-coated hands and markers.
Given the tight real estate on the dial, the watch still manages to accommodate functions including hours, minutes, seconds, big date display and a dual-time subdial with a day and night indicator at the 6 o’clock marker. The latter function allows wearers to easily track a second time zone, which is perfect for regular travellers.
The caseback is similarly striking with a spherical display window showing off the Swiss-made Soprod TT651 movement, which boasts a 42-hour power reserve.
The elegant timepiece is finished off with a quick-change black alligator strap that enables the Hampton Big Date Dual Time to move effortlessly between work and leisure duties.
