The Ritz-Carlton sets up residence in Manhattan’s trendy NoMad district
The 69th Regiment Armory Art Show, held in 1913 on Lexington Avenue in the Manhattan district now known as NoMad (‘North of Madison Square Park’), introduced American audiences to the Modernist movement in art.
A century later, the district is opening its arms to another exciting new development, with the hotel giant Marriott International having inked a deal with the real estate development company Flag Luxury Group to construct a Ritz-Carlton Hotel and Residences Tower on the corner of 28th Street and Broadway.
The US$500 million project has been designed by the award-winning architect Rafael Vinoly, with innovative design firm Yabu Pushelberg taking care of the interiors.
The "iconic project" will see The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad, become the "epicentre of one of New York City’s most exciting neighbourhoods", says Flag Luxury Group President Dayssi Olarte.
Slated to be more than 500 feet tall, the tower will afford unsurpassable views of the Empire State Building. On the ground, in the midst of a hub for creative and tech firms, it is surrounded by an impressive array of dining, retail and entertainment options.

"Thanks to buzzing restaurants and bars, unique retail and notable architecture, NoMad has become one of Manhattan’s most popular neighbourhoods," Marriott International Executive Vice President and Global Chief Development Officer Tony Capuano says.
The Ritz-Carlton New York, NoMad, will be made up of 250 hotel rooms and 16 branded residences, all offering the extensive range of services and amenities the brand has developed a reputation for.
A large public garden brings an additional touch of the wild to New York’s concrete jungle, and a contemporary rooftop bar is the perfect place to kick off the evening. Guests will feel right at home with renowned Ritz-Carlton offerings, including its Club Lounge and Spa, available.
Construction on the project has already commenced, and the hotel and residences are set to open their doors to guests in 2021.
