Inside Kafnu Alexandria: Sydney’s cool new coworking hotel
As soon as you step inside Kafnu Alexandria, a genre-defining coworking hotel, you understand why it’s almost fully booked out ahead of its 1 March opening.
With sophisticated coworking spaces popping up all over the globe, Kafnu’s parent, international hospitality body Next Story Group, scoured the country in search of an innovative neighbourhood for its flagship Australian property.
The Group settled on the industrial and creative hub of Alexandria in Sydney, moving into the top two levels of a three-storey building in business estate The Mill – right next door to the uber-Instagrammable Grounds of Alexandria.
"What sets Kafnu Alexandria apart is our positive community culture, which encourages members to share experiences, learn from one another, work together and inspire one another to achieve even more," explains Kafnu Alexandria General Manager Simon Hall.
"We are building a vibrant community of hyphenates, entrepreneurs and trailblazers, and we will support their success through bespoke activities, including talks, workshops, seminars and industry-specific events that facilitate networking and collaboration."
Designed for members to work, learn, play and live, Kafnu enables co-creation, co-exploration and co-innovation.
Located just 15 minutes from Sydney Airport and 20 minutes from the CBD, Kafnu Alexandria will provide 16 luxurious hotel rooms, private meeting rooms and offices, dedicated and flexible desks, and a state-of-the art virtual fitness studio.
Members will have 24-hour access to podcast and photo studios, a brainstorming cave, and an Oxygen Lab to soothe body and mind.
When it’s time to clock off, Kafnu’s bespoke gin bar Tonik has local craft beer on tap and more than 20 Australian gins on offer, all served with natural botanicals and premium tonic.
Hot-desk memberships are available for A$750 a month, while permanent desks are available for A$900 per month and both come with GoGet car membership.
For added convenience, members have global access to Kafnu’s existing venues in Hong Kong, Taipei and Bengaluru. The brand is rapidly expanding across Asia–Pacific, with properties in Ho Chi Minh City, Colombo, Mumbai and Bali currently in the pipeline.
Coworking office space in Australia is set to triple by 2030, according to a Development Economics report commissioned by global workspace provider Regus.
This projected boom will see 12% of all commercial office stock in Australia transformed into flexible workspaces, increasing Australia’s economic output by A$122 billion by 2030.
