Could this wilderness resort be Western Australia’s best kept secret?

Only accessible by air, with no phone reception and wi-fi only available in the main lodge, Western Australia’s The Berkeley River Lodge is the ultimate destination to forget the real world and truly switch off.

Sitting on the edge of the Kimberley Coast, 20 luxurious villas float atop sand dunes and provide 360-degree views across untouched wilderness, including the gorges of the Berkeley River, and the expansive Timor Sea.

To allow guests to truly relax into the rhythms of nature, The Berkeley River Lodge has designed every aspect of its accommodations to integrate seamlessly into the surrounding landscape.

Each villa is within walking distance of the main building, and comes complete with air-conditioning, a king-sized bed and en-suite with an open-air free-standing bath tub – allowing you to soak under the stars.

By day, you can enjoy bush and beach 4WD tours, guided hikes, fishing, sea turtle viewing, wilderness picnics, or a cruise down the Berkeley River where you’re likely to spot a saltwater crocodile or two.

If you’re looking for something slightly more adventurous there’s also an option to venture deep into the Kimberley to experience all of its hidden treasures via a private helicopter tour.

Board the luxurious Bell 407 and glide over the mighty King George and Mitchell Falls, watch the sun rise atop Mount Casuarina, picnic at Eagle Falls and swim in crystal-clear rock pools untouched for hundreds of years.

Then by night, enjoy sunset cocktails followed by a five-course degustation dinner at Dunes, with its menu featuring a range of Australian wines and locally and globally sourced ingredients – including fish caught fresh from the river.

The lodge is available for groups of up to 40 and is an ideal destination for a relaxing corporate retreat or adventurous vacation.

Packages start at A$2,850 per night and are all inclusive for two guests – including return flights from Darwin airport (or guests can fly their own plane in), all meals, selected beverages and activities.
