Inside the glamorous Moët & Chandon Effervescence soiree

A grand gold dome, cascading Champagne tower bubbling with French fizz, a magical sparkle room, and twinkling panoramic views of Sydney Harbour made for a truly opulent soiree with Moët & Chandon.

Under the magnificence of an extravagant custom-made glimmering chandelier, VIPs donning glamorous gowns and dapper suits raised a Champagne-filled gold goblet to Moët & Chandon Effervescence – an exquisite celebration of togetherness and the joy of coming together.

Exuberant festivities were a welcome delight after years of global lockdowns and travel restrictions, allowing many, including The CEO Magazine’s 2020 Executive of the Year Award guest judge Pip Edwards, Ian Thorpe AM, Justin Hemmes, Nathan Dalah, Kate Waterhouse and Georgia Fowler to mingle under the shimmering night sky with a Moët Mini in hand and capture blissful moments in the Eternal Effervescence Room.

Celebrating togetherness for more than 270 years, Moët & Chandon has become the glamorous expert of effervescence.

Effervescence is a global celebration to share the magic of Champagne, and the Australian installation premiered as one of the first of 17 Moët & Chandon pop-ups around the world. Awe-inspiring installations will captivate guests in locations including London, Paris, Mexico City, Johannesburg, Moscow, Hong Kong, Stockholm, Antwerp, Amsterdam and Singapore.

As endlessly flowing cuvees moved around the 500-square-metre metallic dome, it was the ballet performers draped in glitter and gold who stole the show as they gracefully poured the Champagne tower, all while being suspended high above the glass coupes.

Following a parade of luminescent magnums, guests were invited by actor Simon Baker to raise a glass for Moët & Chandon’s Toast for a Cause. The French maison’s toasting tradition honours a charity each year – this year partnering with The Sapphire Project to support marine conservation.

"The Sapphire Project does a lot of work to bring attention to the critically underfunded area of marine and ocean conservation," Baker said. "As Australians, we have a very intimate relationship with the ocean. That is a part of existing in this country. It sustains our soul, it’s something we often take for granted every day.

"What we don’t realise, every second breath we take on this planet comes from the ocean. Every second breath. And only two per cent of all charitable donations around the world go towards ocean conservation. That’s pretty remarkable."

Committing to the environment, the maison partnered with Carbon Neutral to reduce its footprint for the Effervescence event. The eye-catching dome structure was made of 40 per cent re-usable assets while the brand also invested in wind farm, solar and reforestation projects to offset its carbon footprint.

Flying in from Los Angeles especially for the evening, PNAU’s explosive performance of Elton John and Dua Lipa’s ‘Cold Heart’, and tumbling cold spark fireworks showered guests in Moët & Chandon’s signature sparkle, bringing the night to a magnificent crescendo.

"Let’s raise our glasses to togetherness, to Moët & Chandon, to The Sapphire Project, and to the future," Baker toasted. "Sante!"
