These are the 10 best countries for women to live in
With the rise of globalisation and workplace mobility, employees are increasingly moving around the world for jobs. As large numbers of women are increasingly scared to walk home alone or even to a vehicle parked in an underground car park, Nestpick saw a need for research on the best countries for females to live.
In its ‘Women’s Liveability Index 2019’ study, Nestpick analysed 100 countries, giving ratings in a list of factors affecting the everyday lives of women, revealing the 10 best and 10 worst countries in the world for those with two X chromosomes based on factors in four key areas: infrastructure, inequality, legislation and work.
The infrastructure category includes safety, which is crucial considering the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime reports that every day, 137 women are killed by partners or family members worldwide. It is no surprise females are feeling more vulnerable than ever.

The chilling numbers are just one fraction of the fight towards gender equality, with the Index highlighting gaps in gender pay gaps, life expectancy, sanitary-product tax rates and human trafficking.
The study also looks at percentages of females working in C-suite and government positions, the number of entrepreneurs, STEM score numbers and the Equal Pay Day – the date marking when businesswomen essentially work for free until the end of the year due to the gender wage gap.
