Sydney’s latest tailor aims to beat the recession in style

The pandemic has wreaked havoc with businesses large and small across the globe, but for one player in the men’s suiting game, the crisis only serves as an opportunity to prove that unwavering style can prevail against the odds.

The Bespoke Corner Tailors opened the doors to its latest flagship store in Sydney recently with a promise to deliver the very best selection of fabrics, innovative tailoring and a top-tier service like no other. Headed by the experienced duo of Miles Wharton and Rami Mikhael, the store will honour the ways of old-world tailoring through a boutique space in the heart of Paddington’s most stylish precinct known as Five Ways on Glenmore Road.

It won’t just be an average suit tailoring store, though. The exterior architecture demands an unapologetic street presence, which is a nod to the world’s greatest luxury brand houses. Meanwhile, the interior design is faithfully expressed over two floors with a focus on fabric, design and construction education through different rooms filled with original artworks from Helmut Newton.

The immersive customer experience even extends into a members-only Cigar Bar, which flows onto an Italian-style lounge courtyard. All of these finer details exist to honour the boutique’s proud Tuscan manufacturing roots.

Wharton, who is well-known in the fashion scene himself, explains that the area is perfect for events that they’ve hosted in the past which includes partners such as Rolls-Royce, Christian Louboutin and Peroni.

"Or it can simply allow our members to enjoy a lazy afternoon escape from work away from the commercial establishments in an easy relaxed environment fit for a king".

"We continue to evolve with our customer needs – as their requirements change, we change with them. The new flagship site is about bringing our values to audible and tangible life in a perfect setting," adds Mikhael.

Testament to its dedication to exquisite suiting, The Bespoke Corner Tailors only uses the world’s finest fabric mills alongside its longstanding partnership with Dormeuil, which can provide customers with limited-release yarns. The full luxury experience is bolstered with cigars from the cellars of Montecristo and Cohiba for special occasions, premium aged whisky bottles from The Balvenie and Glenfiddich at the bar, and perfume from the ultra-luxury label Roja.

At a time that would be chaotic for any bricks-and-mortar business to open shop, Wharton says his reasoning is simple.

"Individualisation and custom fitting is not just industry talk. Everyone is looking to find their own style, the perfect fit and the very best quality for their particular budget. Finding this in today’s retail landscape of fast fashion is near impossible. This fundamental need remains unchanged.

"It’s that attention to detail that sets us apart from the others."

The Bespoke Corner Tailors opened its Melbourne store in South Yarra more than two years ago and is now focusing its efforts on Sydney.
