Robert Ganley
Robert Ganley shares how Ivoclar Vivadent has gone from a manufacturer of artificial teeth, to the world leader in restorative and aesthetic dentistry.
It was 1923 in Zurich when Ivoclar Vivadent began to produce artificial ceramic teeth and dentures for clients across Europe. As time went on, the family-owned business broadened its portfolio considerably to offer a comprehensive range of innovative products and systems for dentists and dental technicians. Today, Ivoclar Vivadent is extremely well known the world over, particularly for its aesthetic dentistry solutions and its focus on metal-free smile restoration.
CEO Robert Ganley joined Ivoclar Vivadent Inc. (USA) in 1980 as Vice President, and 10 years later, he became the President.
In 2003, he was appointed CEO of the global Ivoclar Vivadent group and Chairman of corporate management. Robert has a degree in mathematics and a Master of Business Administration, both of which have served him well throughout his career. His first professional job was with KPMG, looking after a range of clients in various industries. One of those clients was a dental company which became his gateway into the industry.
"It was always my goal to be involved with a company, or a group of people, whom I was proud to work with," he says. "I know sometimes that means having strong financial goals, but in our company we look beyond that. Yes, we are very successful financially, in terms of market growth, and in terms of how our competitors see us, but I think what’s important to us is that we are appreciated and respected by our competition, customers, and partners. They don’t just see how big we are but they see the good we do internally and for our customers. Ivoclar Vivadent is a company that I am very proud to work for."
