The CEO Magazine sat down with Simon Gray, Group Managing Director of Probuild, to discuss the company’s record of success, its core relationships with staff and strategic partners, and the foundations he continues to lay for the future.

“A key lesson that I’ve learned is that it’s all about relationships with all the stakeholders, whether they be clients, financers, consultants, subcontractors, employees, or the unions. To be successful, you’ve got to really have strong relationships with all these stakeholders. Our business is all about working with others to achieve their desired outcomes.

In terms of the industry, I think it’s about keeping your finger on the pulse of everything that’s happening in the building industry from where the opportunities are with clients to where subcontract pricing is moving. If you don’t have your finger on the pulse, then you’re really not going to be successful in this industry. It’s a very fluid and dynamic industry, and I think that’s the reason why you have to be so vigilant in terms of where it’s moving, where it’s heading, where the problems are, and where the opportunities are.”
