Why should I enter?
As well as recognition, exposure, an opportunity to network with the leading players in Australian business and a celebration thrown in your honour, winners across the business awards categories receive an elegant trophy and media coverage from The CEO Magazine and other outlets.
The winners of the CEO of the Year Awards will make the cover of The CEO Magazine ANZ’s December issue and will be invited to join the judging panel at the following year’s awards.

About the application process
Can I nominate someone?
Yes! We highly encourage nominations for all categories. Once you have nominated, the individual will have to complete the application questions themselves in order to be eligible for the award. Please note a nomination alone is not a completed application.
What are the new categories this year?
This year we have four completely new categories including Global Pioneer of the Year, Real Estate Executive of the Year, Corporate Responsibility Executive of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year.
In addition, this year we have split CEO of the Year into three categories, depending on the company’s turnover. These are CEO of the Year – A$100m+, CEO of the Year – A$50m–100m, CEO of the Year – A$0–50m.

When do applications officially open?
Applications will open on 29 March for the 2021 Executive of the Year Awards.
Does it cost anything to apply for an award?
No – it’s free to enter!
Can I enter more than one category?
Yes – as long as you are applicable via our criteria, you are able to enter multiple categories.
When should I complete the application by?
The application closing date is 9 July 2021. We recommend that when you start your application, you have everything you need to finish it in one sitting.
Do I have to answer all the questions on the application?
Yes. The judges score your application based on each individual question, so it is important that you consider each question carefully and provide a detailed response.
How long does it take to complete the application?
The whole online application process takes approximately 30-60 minutes. It is important that you hit the submit button upon completing the application.
What’s the video for?
The video is only required for the CEO of the Year applicants. It is a chance for the applicant to introduce themselves to the judges on a personal level. The applicant can use this format to highlight any key milestones, achievements or challenges they have overcome in the past 12 months. The video should not be any longer than two minutes.
Why do you need company financials?
Only those applying for the CEO of the Year award are required to address turnover. Company finances are used to categorise the new sub-categories for the CEO of the Year award – A$0–50m, A$50m–100m and A$100m+. The judges will use these figures as part of the review process. All disclosed financials are kept strictly confidential.
I was a finalist in a previous year, can I enter again?
Yes, applicants from previous years, including finalists and winners, may re-enter.
The application process asks for a photo of me. What sort of photo do I need to upload?
We’ll need a professional headshot to use in the event of the individual applicant becoming a finalist or winner. Files should be at least 1MB.
Can I win more than one award?
Yes! If you apply for more than one category, it is possible to win multiple categories, and this has happened in previous years.
How will I be contacted if I’m a finalist?
If you are a finalist, you will be notified via the email address and phone number provided on your application form.
When are the finalists announced?
Finalists will be announced on 2 September 2021. The list of finalists will also be published in the October edition of the magazine, and at theceomagazine.com.
When are the winners announced?
Winners are announced at the Executive of the Year Awards presentation ceremony on 15 December 2021.

Where are the awards being hosted this year?
The Awards will return for its 10th year in 2021 as a black-tie event, hosted at The Star, Sydney, Australia.
Can I attend the awards night if I’m not a finalist?
Absolutely! Tickets will be made available later in 2021.
