Aussie model Brooke Hogan on how to stay motivated
Since her appearance on Australia’s Next Top Model in 2013, Brooke Hogan has shot to superstardom in Australia’s modelling scene. Brooke has been the face of several campaigns including the 2017 Formula One Rolex Australian Grand Prix and Australian sunscreen brand, Hawaiian Tropic.
Brooke’s passion for health and fitness has also earned her a prominent position as an influencer, with more than 720,000 followers on Instagram. Earlier this year, her womenswear designs with active wear label, JAGGAD, sold out within the first two hours of going online.
Brooke was one of 10 Australian entrepreneurs to be featured in a stunning photoshoot for International Women’s Day 2019, organised by the founder of Australian fashion label Mastani, Kudrat Makkar. The photoshoot celebrates the rise of Australian female entrepreneurs and aims to inspire younger and older generations alike to discover and live out their true purpose.
The CEO Magazine spoke to Brooke about life as a model and what she will be doing to celebrate International Women’s Day.
Q. What is the best part of your job?
A. There are so many things I enjoy about my work but my favourite would have to be the many creative and inspiring people I get to meet and work with every day. My job is extremely diverse. I am provided with endless opportunities to work on a vast array of projects with talented individuals from a wide range of industries. I am never bored.
Q. What career achievements are you most proud of?
A. My new role as a presenter on Channel 7’s latest TV show, The Great Weekend .
Q. What do you wish someone had told you at the start of your career?
A. Trust the timing of your own path. Don’t compare yourself to those around you in similar positions.
Q. What are your top three tips for building a brand?
- Trust your initial gut instinct
- Learn from your failures
- Just do it!
Q. How do you overcome doubts?
A. It’s so important to surround yourself with a good support network; friends and family that remind you why you’re doing what you’re doing. Take a step back, look at where you are and remind yourself of how far you’ve come. It’s nice to recognise your own successful moments to give you the motivation to keep grinding!
Q. What does International Women’s Day mean to you? Will you be doing anything to mark the day?
A. International Women’s Day is about celebrating all women in all areas and celebrating gender equality. Although there are still many changes that need to be made, I think it is important to recognise how times have changed. It’s a day to empower and inspire women and remind them that opportunities can be attained regardless of your gender.
I will be attending an IWD event with a panel of four incredibly successful and influential women.
Q. Why was it important for you to be involved in the Mastani shoot?
A. It’s important to be involved in things that you are passionate about and support causes close to your heart. I love meeting new people and surrounding myself with individuals that inspire and drive me. I am thrilled to have met some amazing women that day.
