International artists make a creative contribution to Parkinson’s research

Starting with a perspex cube with 20x20x20cm dimensions, more than 80 artists of global renown have created unique works – using the cube as a means of support, a frame, or a vessel – in support of a good cause.

Held at the end of October at Bonhams London, the second Cure3 exhibition, designed to raise funds for the Cure Parkinson’s Trust (CPT), saw these artworks sold for prices ranging from £1,000 to upwards of £20,000.

International artists including Nick Hornby, Anish Kapoor, Rose Blake and Rana Begum contributed artworks, with this year also seeing the inclusion of architectural luminaries like Nicholas Grimshaw and Piers Gough.

CTP was founded in 2005. Hoping to find a cure for Parkinson’s, the Trust funds research into new treatments that will slow or stop the progression of the disease, transforming the lives of the more than 10 million people worldwide who have been diagnosed and who can currently only treat their symptoms.

Cure3 is dedicated to honouring the memory of Tom Isaacs, a co-founder of CPT who passed away in May 2017. The idea for the exhibition arose out of his description of living with Parkinson’s as a feeling of being ‘boxed in’.

Tom gave his full support to the 2017 event, orchestrated by Artwise Curators‘ Susie Allen and Laura Culpan, which garnered a wealth of international media attention and raised more than £300,000 for the Trust.

The 2018 exhibition took place in collaboration with Artwise, and was held from 26-28 October, after a private viewing on October 25. Artworks can be purchased on its website.
