Veuve Clicquot is on a mission to find the Business Woman of the Year
Inspired by its founder’s history-making footsteps, Veuve Clicquot is on a quest to find its 2019 Business Woman of the Year – and it could you.
The French Champagne company will celebrate three women across a trio of categories who embody the same qualities as pioneer businesswoman Madame Clicquot. Those with an enterprising spirit, courage and determination to accomplish business goals will be in the running to take out the titles of the longstanding Business Woman Award, New Generation Award, or Social Purpose Award.
The awards were created by the Champagne house in 1972 at its bicentennial, and Veuve Clicquot strives to recognise the professional success of female leaders. For the 48th time, the industry will gather to celebrate influential businesswomen.
Women with an entrepreneurial spirit, audacious foresight, firm creativity and talent are the ideal candidates for the 2019 Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year Award. Previous winners include Severn Trent CEO Liv Garfield, Anya Hindmarch MBE and Whitbread CEO Alison Brittain.
Since its inception two years ago, the Veuve Clicquot Social Purpose Award has aimed to honour businesswomen championing social causes beyond their core business case – a title that mirrors Madame Clicquot’s passion for curating longstanding business relationships, loyalty and a commitment to business beyond profit.
The final award, Veuve Clicquot New Generation Award, recognises female entrepreneurs between the ages of 25 and 35 in the UK. Reflecting the trailblazer’s formative years full of golden success, the perfect nominee must possess a fearless approach and innovative thinking to achieve her goals.
"The awards celebrate ambitious women and their achievements, as well as shining a spotlight on them as role models to inspire the next generation of businesswomen," – Julie Nollet
The worthy 2019 winners will join more than 300 women in 27 countries who have been honoured since the award’s creation.
"We are so pleased to be opening up public nominations for this year’s awards," Moët Hennessy UK Marketing and Communications Director Julie Nollet says. "Now in its 48th year, the awards celebrate ambitious women and their achievements, as well as shining a spotlight on them as role models to inspire the next generation of businesswomen.
"Every year, we ask the public to put forward those female business leaders who have inspired them; those who embody the trailblazing attitude and success that our founder Madame Clicquot achieved in disrupting Champagne production."
As the first woman to establish herself as a leading business figure, the awards pay homage to Madame Clicquot, who broke through the glass ceiling in the early 1800s. The French pioneer was widowed at 27, which forced her to take on the management of her husband’s wine company before establishing the successful Champagne house.
Techniques Madame Clicquot created to produce extraordinary vintages were adopted across the region and are still used in all houses.
Judged by a talented line-up of professionals including Vogue’s Publishing Director Vanessa Kingori and former New Generation Award Winner and Decoded Co-CEO and Co-Founder Kathryn Parsons, the best female business talent in the UK will be crowned at the prestigious event in London, in May 2019. Entries for the inaugural awards close on 21 December 2018.
